Hello and welcome. Today we're going to be talking about a few things related to branding and then also how we can use AI tools, artificial intelligence tools to solve business problems. Then let's see. OK, apologies, because today's episode is going to be a noisy one because I'm making it at home. It's a weekend and everybody's home, so expect to hear some noise in the background. OK, so now branding, for those of you who are regular listeners, you already know what my take on branding is.
So there's no need to start revisiting and repeating lots of stuff. But basically I had an interaction with the kids this morning and you know, you got to reinforce a couple of things that some of us should. You got to reinforce a couple of things around branding and what should guide, what should guide us whenever we're trying to come up with brand positioning and stuff like that in the market. And this is actually what happened.
So the day before was somebody's birthday at work, somebody's daughter's birthday, and the person sent home some party packs for that's with wifey to bring for the kids. And of course wifey brought the party packs home. Now, my younger son was going through some of the goodies, and then there was a pack of biscuits there. And so I took one that looked nice and I tossed it to him. I was like, here I have this. And I was like, no, no, no, I
don't like it. And I was like, you don't like this, but you haven't tasted it. And he said, I don't like it. I said, how do you know you don't like it? He said, I don't like any biscuit that comes from this company, Yale. I said, how do you know it is Yale that made this company this biscuit? And then he pointed to the back. So Yale, of course, Yale. Now for those of us listeners of the podcast who are actually Nigerians resident in Nigeria,
you know, we know this company, you know, cabin biscuits and you know, all those whatever. So they make all kinds of stuff. And so my son refused vehemently, but he was not going to eat that biscuit because it is made by Yale. And I said, what is wrong with biscuits that are made by Yale? And the guy said that they taste sour. And I said so because this thing has the stamp, the trademark of Yale on it, and all the Yale biscuits that you've eaten before tasted sour, you think this thing is going to taste sour.
He said yes. I said, OK, no problem. And then I ate the biscuit. Well, while I was eating the biscuit, and to be honest, yes, it had a sweet taste and then it also had a little bit of a sour taste to it. But as I was eating the biscuit, it actually got me thinking how lots of Nigerian business owners, whenever we're coming up with a brand design and you know, stuff like that, we're just thinking about what looks cool.
We're thinking about what catches our fancy. And we forget that the purpose of the brand actually is to signal something to the market about us. It is either supposed to signal something that will attract people to us or signal something that will repel certain kinds of people away from us. So my young man now has made an association between the Yale trademark and certain kinds of biscuits. So when he sees any biscuit that has Yale on it, he's going to avoid it.
And when he sees certain kinds of biscuits that have other kinds of trademarks, he's going to be drawn to it. The reason why I'm making today's episode and keen on this thing is because I just want business owners to know that when you're paying for fancy brand design and blah, blah, blah and stuff like that, that this is actually the whole point. It's not just to design something that looks cool, but remember that we're trying to design something that is either going to attract people to us or that is going to repel people to us.
Sorry, repel people away from us. And we're also trying to have a uniform business experience. So just like my son said, I took the biscuit, cracked it open, I ate it. It was nice, but they had kind of a sour tint. So I guess for Yale, everything that they produce needs to have somewhat of a sour tint. In fact, I'm curious when I go and I'm going to buy Cabin Biscuit and have a taste because, you know, back in secondary school because I was a border, I can't remember Cabin Biscuit having a sour taste.
But let me just try it and then see. So those are the kind of things that we're supposed to be paying attention to when we're coming up with our brand positioning, marketing positioning. And then all of that. We want to have a uniform customer experience. And then we're trying to design the brand so that it will attract certain kinds of people or repel certain kinds of people. So if you design your brand well and it is only attracting people who like sour biscuits or people who like, you know, XYZ kind of business, business experience or sorry, customer experience, then you'll be doing a good job.
You will achieve a certain certain amount of virality in your business because people who likes our stuff will tell other people who likes our stuff and will tell other people who likes our stuff. And you will have people within your ambit who you know that is exactly what it is that they like. So bottom line, I'm making today's episode just to let you all know, dear listeners, that please, these are the things that are supposed to be at the bottom of our minds, or rather at the top of our minds when we are designing a brand experience.
All right? We're thinking about designing something, not just the logos and the colors, but also designing a uniform experience with the way people interact with our business or the way they interact with our products so that we will attract certain kinds of people and so that we will repel certain kinds of people. Don't be afraid of repelling people. There's some people who should not be in your mix if you're trying to attract too many people, like this biscuit company attracting my son, for instance.
My son will go online and be giving a review. This thing tastes our. This thing tastes our. This thing tastes our So we actually should be trying to repel those kinds of people. And we should be trying to attract the kind of people who will come and say, ah, this thing tastes great. This thing takes wonderful, this thing is the best. Meanwhile, the taste of the biscuit is the same. It's just that some people dig it, some people don't dig it.
So in all our designing, designing, designing, strategizing, strategizing, remember we're trying to attract the right kind of people and we're trying to repel the wrong kind of people. OK, so that's it on the branding thing and the lessons from party packs and lessons on branding for my son. Then back to AI and how AI can solve our help us solve our business problems when particularly when you have sales and marketing problems.
Now there are lots of you who are trying to look for ways to attract customers and then you're stuck because you can't think of anything fruitful. You know, you have a blank page or a black cursor. You can't come up with any ideas. And I've said time and time again that AI tools are very good tools that can help you solve these problems, can help you get on stock so that you can get one or two ideas so you can try it out.
And there are some of you who are listening to this podcast, but somehow you guys are not getting the message because there's a person who has listened to the podcast before. He came as a regular listener. He has reached out again. So let's just call him Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Oh, by the way, Fresh Prince, you know, I'm not saying this to castigate you or anything, you understand. I'm just saying it because I want people to know because this is something that happened live.
We just had this conversation, this podcast. I'm making this podcast fresh. Like this conversation just ended like 5 minutes ago. That's why I'm making this podcast episode. So Fresh Prince again, not his real name. The reason why I'm sharing this is just so that other people can see that look, this thing can help you get out of your mind because Fresh Prince reached out to me on Thursday, said they had some questions to ask.
I said no Allah by anyway, the guy didn't ask the question until Sunday. And look, that's the habit that we need to break because, you know, he reached out to the usual Niger away, you know, good evening. See, when you're trying to do business outreach or trying to reach out to someone, good evening or hello or happy Sunday or good morning, that's that's not good. Because if you listen to two episodes back, remember that when you're reaching out to somebody for the first time,
remember that people are thinking, who is this person? How did they get my phone number? What do they want? So any kind of opening salvo that doesn't answer any of these three questions is not valuable to most people now because me, I define money. Whenever people send a message and they say good morning or happy Sunday, I take, I I push the conversation forward because I really want to know who's this guy because there might be money there.
So that's the reason why, I mean, I push the conversation. But just know, Fresh Prince, that this is how you reach out to your potential potential customers. A lot of them will just ignore you. They'll say, they'll say good evening and say, OK, yeah, I started again. And then they will scroll up and then they will see that out of the 10 messages and Tisha was good evening, good evening, good evening. If they're tired of this kind of I don't even know what to call itself, you know, eventually somebody will block you.
So good evening. Happy new Sunday. Hello. Good morning, Sir. That's not how to start a conversation. They will decide the conversation is a. Good morning, Sir. Hope you're doing OK. Sorry for reaching out to you on the Sunday morning, but I have questions concerning blah, blah, blah. When would be a good time to talk? Now, when you reach out like that, that's a very professional something, right? So you guys take dressing.
You know, we're business people, so we should all sound and talk in a certain way. We're professionals. We should always sound professional. So he sent me a message. Oh, by the way, I forgot, even though this guy, Fresh Prince, again, not his real name, even though both of us have interacted in the past, he left his disappearing message timer on and stuff like that. So to be honest then, OK, I've said this before, let me say it again.
Look, Nigerian business people, a lot of us are not in the habit of using CRMS. The CRM is a customer relationship management tool. It is any tool that helps you keep track of who you've been having conversations with, what it is that you people discussed, what you're supposed to do next to move the relationship forward, you know, those sorts of things just to help you stay on track because there's lots of things that you can't remember in business.
We're trying to make a living here. We're talking to dozens of people on a weekly basis. If you're talking to 12 people every week, then by the end of the month that's 12 times, that's what, that's 48 talking to 48 people a month now 48 * 12, that is what? And I can't do the math, that's, you know, XYZ. No more people in the air. You can't remember the details of everybody. So I have always advised Nigerian business people who I
come across that look, when you're having interactions with people on WhatsApp, turn off all this message, disappearing message, 90 days, disappearing message 24 hours and blah, blah, blah. Because it's bad enough that you're not using a CRM, no problem. You now have an app where you're talking to people and of course the history of the message, you know, good idea. It will give you some context. Why are you allowing those messages to disappear?
When the messages disappear and you have to reach out to the person again, how will you remember what it is that you discussed before? The things that you agreed with, the things that you disagreed with, the matters that are outstanding, the things that you're supposed to do, what the person is supposed to do for you, how will you remember? So please, Nigerian business people listening to this podcast, it is bad enough that you don't have a CRM.
Turn off your disappearing messages something setting, excuse me, Turn off this disappearing message something feature in WhatsApp. Turn it off. You don't have a CRM. So this is the only way that you remember the customer. If you don't believe me, go to your phone for the messages that I have not yet deleted. No problem. Scroll a bit. Let's see a customer, maybe Mama La Baca or something. Click on Mama La Baca and then scroll all the way to the first time you attracted with her.
Scroll to the very beginning. As you're scrolling down now and as you are seeing the messages unfold, can you see that you're now remembering that, oh, this is How I Met Mama La Baca. This is who introduced us. This is what we discussed. This is how we negotiated. This is what we agreed. This is how much she paid. She referred me to this person or she didn't refer me to anybody and and this is how we've been interacting since then.
Now looking at this conversation that you're going to see in WhatsApp now based on the the history of communication between you and Mama Labaka, you will now know whether oh Mama Labaka is a good customer. Therefore I should be following up with her as you stay in touch with her so that she can refer other people like me. Or you now discover that Mama Labaka was a rubbish customer and you don't want anything to do with people like her.
So you will now delete her and then block her. But can you see that is important that we stop all the disappearing message something we are in business. Please turn these things off. If you have a CRM, no problem. The CRM will become you'll be using the CRM to capture all the information that you need above my lab. But I know for sure that I was going to say 90% if 100% of us listening to this podcast right now. I know you don't have any kind of CRM whatsoever.
At the very least, use your WhatsApp sort of like a CRM, at least something that you can refer to and it will give you an overview, an idea about who this customer is. So long and short. Fresh Prince again, not his real name. He didn't change the message history. So the interaction between me and him is gone. So I have to tell him that. Look, Fresh Prince, to be honest, I can't remember who you are. All the messages, everything don't disappear.
I have no idea who you are. I have no idea what it is that we discussed. Now I'll put it now. I'll put it. OK. Answer questions for free from time to time. OK? You have access to me. OK, No problem. Do you think it is a bad idea? Or rather, do you think it is a good idea, right, That there's somebody that you have easy access to because he gives his phone number all the time, by the way, 08064662140 So if you want to connect with me, yeah,
call, send me a text message or WhatsApp message. So do you think it's a good idea that you're reaching out to this kind of person? You don't even enable message history or something. So this guy doesn't even have any idea about the previous context or conversation that people have had before. Do you think it's a good idea if you want somebody to be able to help you once in a while, you reach out, you say Bros how far and the person helps you, One or two things.
At the very least, the person should remember who you are because it will tailor the kind of advice that he's going to give you. Yes, I know today's episode is a bit of a rant, but let me say it again. Can you please my brothers and sisters, you both should turn off this message history thing. We are in business. We need to remember who it is that we're having conversations with. Now, if you're not in business yet and you're tired of messages taking up your phone, no problem.
You've had said the thing so that your messages will disappear immediately you send them. Because I've seen that kind of action too, and I was impressed. I didn't know you could do that. Somebody sent me a message. I tap on message. I looked at it immediately I looked at it, the message just disappears. Oh boy, what happened? He said there's a setting on his phone that he likes it that way. And I'm wondering that like, is it that serious?
Like what are you afraid of that somebody who screenshot something and implicate you in what again? So yes, there are disappearing messages like that. So if you're not in business and you don't like people's messages blocking your phone, whether it's slowing your phone down or something good, use that setting. The moment you send one message and the person click on it, the person read it one time, the message will disappear.
Your inbox will always be empty. But if you're in business, please turn off all this rubbish. All right? Then, like I said, he said good evening. OK, no problem. Let's say, OK, he took dressing and then he changed the message setting. But now was a Thursday night. Of course, the guy never said what it is. I was on his mind. He now sent another message again saying good morning. Remember what I said at the beginning of the episode?
Or professional sales people here, professional business people who suppose they are professional, sending somebody good morning, good evening, good night, happy new month. Like that is not professional. If somebody wakes up and they say a message from you, happy new month, that is all that is inside the OK, happy new month. And so look, we're business people. There must be something to something else. There must be something, there must be a reason why we're reaching out to someone and you state that reason.
So if you just want to say happy new month, then it should be part of the message. Good morning, Bros. Good morning, Madam. How are you? Day No vex adjustment. I agree to you. Happy new month. Bam. That's it. The person will see. I know that. Oh, OK. Happy new month. You're now understands that it's just happy new month. You say, My brother, Happy new month to you too. God bless you. The thing will end there. Because nowadays, Nigel,
sometimes happy new month means I'm broke. Send me money. Sometimes happy new month means I want to ask you a favor. I don't know how I should ask you that favor. Sometimes happy new months means Bros. I sent you a message before. You haven't responded. I'm still waiting for a response. Sometimes people send happy new months just like that. Just so that you see it and be like, OK, I didn't answer that guy before. We're business people here, All right?
We should make an intent very, very clear. So no. Good morning. Just like that. Good evening. Just like that. Happy new month, just like that. Happy Sunday, just like that. No, all right, let's take a step up in our communications. So he sent me another good morning message. And of course, like I said, I define money, so I respond to everybody. So I told the guy, I said, look, you've just been greeting me anyhow, Anyhow, you have to say what's on your mind?
What's on your mind, *** He now said, oh, I'm sorry about that. The guy now sent four other messages. Please, when you're chatting with somebody, look, we need to be present and in the message. I'm continuing this conversation because, you know, like I said, now money, are they fine? So I interact with everybody because you never know where money is. But for somebody like let's say my wife now, for instance, you know, at this point, my wife would have just blocked these guys say, what the hell are they?
Try and engage yourself. You know, they send me forward their message. My would have just blocked. There are lots of people that would have just blocked. And some of you, you say that Dan Gote is not nice, that billionaires are not nice. Why do you think they're not nice? You think they're not tired of this kind of behavior? I mean, think of number of people that do this to them. Why do you think billionaires have be somebody who just managed their cell phone?
Because I know it is utter chaos, utter chaos. Anyway, so send the message was that his company needs a database covering the following sectors. And then he listed it out, real estate, construction, cold room, cold storage, agro, allied industries, logistics, pharmaceutical, oil and gas, commercial property, you know, blah, blah, blah. So you need a database on that. First of all, looking at this thing. Now look, this thing is too wide.
Whenever you're in business, you need to have a clear sense of who your ICP is, your ideal customer profile. You cannot successfully target any single market segment or things like that until you are clear on the people in particular who you are chasing. And look at it, this thing is so wide. This is one of the reasons why a lot of you are having problems in attracting customers to your business. You're trying to communicate with the whole world.
What kind of marketing are you going to do that will appeal to real estate, construction, cold room storage, agricultural, logistics, pharmaceutical, oil and gas, and then commercial property developers? Pick a lens, pick a frame, pick a group. Let your communication be targeted to somebody. Then you could be understand, you will be relating with somebody, they will feel you, they will understand your communication, they understand what your company is about.
It's like how some people say that my focus is too narrow. Of course my focus is narrow. That's the reason why my podcast is sales for the Nigerian businessperson. So that an American businessperson will not bother listening to this podcast because the American is not going to understand what this guy is saying. You won't understand. And then you know, once I picked Nigeria, I've already put my flag in the ground. You know, The thing is some Ghanaian boys, for instance, you know, you know, they don't get the Ghanaian sales podcast.
When they say you say Nigerians get sales podcast, you know, and they might listen. But the fact that I've decided to speak to one particular group in particular is going to make my message very clear. That's why the reason why I can't speak the way I speak here on the podcast, I can't flow normal, normal, normal because I have decided that this podcast is for Nigerian people only. So I flow those of you who hear me who say finally our boy is on ground and then they will subscribe and then they'll follow.
Then they'll be liking the content, they'll be sharing the content. The reason why that's possible because I'm very clear about who it is I'm speaking to, be clear about who you're speaking to in your business. Sometimes the reason why you're struggling is you're trying to market to the whole world and anybody who's trying to market to the whole world, you're marketing to nobody in particular. And then plus is very stressful.
Think about it. Today you go and talk to real estate company. Tomorrow you talk to construction company. Next tomorrow you talk to cold room and storage. After that you talk to agricultural company. After that logistics company, then pharmaceutical company. The day after oil and gas company, then commercial property development company. You will be tired. You can't even develop a sales script because you're talking to too many people you know.
Take time, focus on one group of people. Come up with a sales script and a sales process that works on one group of people first. When you now have something that works, you don't test them. Well, you've used it. Well, you'll now be able to take it and tweak it and apply to other people. So let's say you start off this business and then you say, OK, now only real estate will go to portion. So you're portraying real estate companies.
All right. Then you start in January for the next 6 months, only real estate companies where you deposit. But at least you've come up with a process. You have a calling script that works. You have a sales process that works. You've, you've worked out your, your billing processes, your fulfillments, your deliverables, your everything. You have a process that works. Then you can now say, OK, let's see if we can take this process and now adapt it to cold room and storage companies.
You can see how it works better that way. So some of you are just chasing too many people under the sun and that's the reason why your business is hard. So relax, focus on one set of people. So of course, I told the guy that, look, Fresh Prince, why did you send this to me? I don't do data management. I don't do data anything. Data, data, data, data. Is there a business problem you need my help with? Of course, he apologized and he said that he didn't know that I
don't do database and asked me if he listens to the podcast. He said he listens to the podcast and I'm wondering, is there anything I've said in any particular episode that gave any of you the reason to think that perhaps I do stuff like this? OK, just in case I gave someone that impression before, let me say it again. All these database database stuff, I don't do it. How to build a database. I have no idea how to manage a database.
I have no idea how to sanitize a database. I have no idea is not my area of specialty. All I do is sales. That's all. If you have the database already and you want us to come up with a plan for how we're going to target these people, oh, good, good, good. In that case, give me a call 08064662140. We'll come up with a plan and we'll target these things well, and then we'll make some money. But then to sign off, I told the guy that, look, I don't do any of these things, but I've been saying on the podcast, go as ChatGPT.
It's not a bad way of doing research as ChatGPT, as Google, Gemini. Some of you say this guy started again. He likes AI tools. Look, I don't see, I don't care about AI tools. I'm just being, I put it this way, when I was coming into the game, you know, as a young lawyer or as a wedding photographer, we did not have these tools. But in those days, if we wanted to learn something, what the hell do you think we did? We went on Google to go and look for information, or we went on YouTube to look for information,
or we went on Wikipedia to look for information. That's how we did it back in the day. How do you think I learned how to use a camera? Well, first of all, by trial and error. And then my friend said I had some skill. He said, I suppose develop myself. I said sure, sure, no problem, no problem. And then one day, my roommate, his name is Aibi, Aibi Dangana, very correct guy. One day, Aibi just sent me a link. I saw the link and he opened it.
He came to my room and he told me Guy CenturyLink. I said yeah, I saw it. He said it's a video tutorial. I said OK, thank you very much. He said no, no, no, it's not matter. Thank you very much. Watch this thing, begin to develop yourself. You got some skills. You can make it as a wedding photographer. When we get back to Niger, I say I really You think so? He said yes, that was it. YouTube. That's how I was learning.
That's how I perfected my crafts. That's how I perfected my skill in photography. All I'm saying is now you should do the same thing. So now we have Gemini, we have Claude, we have Char GBT, we have all these things. It's the same process. You're stuck. You don't know what to do. You don't have to look for somebody that you think is a guru in quote or an influencer in quote without your phone and then start engaging with this thing and asking the thing questions.
That is how you solve your problem. That's how you move from a black slate. So for us, when we wanted to start the hustle back then, waiting photography, you don't know what to do. How do I take picture? You go on Google and you type in how do I take picture? Videos will come. You watch, that's it. You learn. You go for a client meeting. You have the client meeting with somebody and you fumble that meeting badly. You fumble it bad and you don't have to fumble again.
You go to Google or you go to YouTube and type. How do I handle a client meeting without fumbling? Some videos will come up, you watch and then you learn. All I'm saying is repeat the same process again. This time do it with this added layer of AI tools, which are GBT, with cloud, with Gemini, whatever. Go and research. Go and learn. That's all I'm saying. Go and learn. So it's not like I love these tools. They don't pay me any money.
I'm not affiliated with any of them. The only reason why I talk about Google Gemini so much is just because it's free and it's on my phone, so I use it. I use anything Google because I'm an Android user. In case my phone is stolen today, I just want to buy another cheap Android phone. And then once I sign in on Google, every single thing that I've done, BAM will just appear again on my phone like that one time. That's the only reason why I use Google.
I'm an Android user. It's saying to my Google account, and I want to be able to just move. If somebody steals my phone today, all I have to do is buy another phone, sign in, everything is there. If my son throws my phone down the toilet, all I have to do is just buy another phone. Signing, Of course, after I brush the boy, you know, because you guys discipline now. So after I brush the boy, buy another phone, once I sign in,
everything is there. So that's the reason why I use the Google suite, not because they're paying me, all right. I'm not affiliated with Google. They're not paying me, but just in case there's anybody that works in Google and you guys are looking for brand influencers on the African continent, I beg. I like your boy because I'm already talking about you guys anyway, so you might as well, you know, let's make this thing official and then pay me in dollars.
Please don't pay me naira. So I told Fresh Prince use these tools and I told him, listen to my podcast, keep listening. We'll give you a sense of what it is that I can do and what is that I can do. But just to make a point, I took the exact message that he gave me. I copied and pasted it in Gemini. The exact message, Copy, paste. I now put intro, you know, small, small header. And I wrote, how can this company create a database question mark?
And then I sent listen carefully. I've taught you guys how to prompt before. So I didn't even use the methods that I've been teaching people about how to prompt. I just came up with a lazy prompt. All these things that the guys sent to me all right, all that thing he said my company is blah blah blah. We want a database in real estate. In this. I just took that thing, copy paste, bam. Then the only intro that I put on top was how can this company build a database?
And then I hit send and then some things came up. I now copied it and pasted it for fresh prints and let me share with you what this tool said so that you people can see live and direct. I said this conversation between me and Fresh Prince didn't happen, You know, reach like 20-30 minutes. So this is live here live. I'm not forming this thing. I didn't prepare for this episode. I just grabbed the mic and I'm speaking.
So this is what Gemini said. So Gemini, of course he gave preamble. We say, OK, building a database require blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And they said here's a step by step strategy for building your database is at #1 leverage industry associations. Basically what Gemini is saying is that all these people, all these sectors that are Fresh Prince them, he and his partners that they want to target, they have regulatory bodies, they have association bodies.
You know, like how lawyers have Nigerian Bar Association. Every single person who studied law in Nigeria is a member of Nigerian Bar Association. Then medical people, they have their medical and dental practice something, something, something they have their own association too. So Gemini is just saying that everybody for Niger, we get association. So therefore look for that association. That's how you get your data. It even wrote the the the associations here.
It said that because you know all these associations, they have databases. So for those of you who don't believe me when I say I studied law, if you go to NBA and you go to the secretariat and you paid the search fee or whatever, and you say, look, this guy, this broadcast attachment, he talks saying he'd be lawyer, but I'll confirm, they will check it and they'll say, Oh yes, actually he graduated in so, so, so and so and blah, blah, blah.
Excuse me. They also tell you that, oh, this guy hasn't paid his fee in over 20 years, which is the reason why I say that I'm a former lawyer because I haven't paid my practicing levies. So the day I left law, I left law and I haven't looked back. I haven't paid my fees. So it's all there. It's on public record. So Gemini is saying that all these things that public knowledge, we have to go and start trying to, and I put it now anyway, I'll go to these associations, try and mine all the information from there.
So Gemini gave was very specific. It spoke about the Real Estate and Construction Developers Association of Nigeria, that is Redan REDAN. Then he also spoke about Nigerian Institute of Building, therefore oil and gas. It said there's a NYPEX. OK, this is a NYPEX. Then you can also check the DPR website. OK, sorry, not DPR. When I was in school, they used to be called DPR. That was the Directorate for Petroleum Resources or something like that, I can't remember.
It's been a long time, but now they are now NUPRCI, can't remember what that is called. So said if you check the website, you'll see an index of the companies that are listed there. So truly, truly you want to build a database of oil and gas companies, go to NYPEX portal or go to NUPRC. Go to that website, you see a list of all the companies that are registered there. That is under your database, you want a list of companies so you can start running after fine.
Is that not your database? OK, Logistics and Pharma, you said that there's the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, that's the PSN. Then there's the Association of Nigerian License Customs Agents. How customs can enter this picture now OK, anyway, you know sometimes it makes up some stuff. Let's let's actually customs because I'm not sure how custom entered this picture. OK OK, OK, yes customs because they had logistics OK good.
And so association of Nigerian licensed customs agents ANLCA you go and check is that a list of all the people that you want? I did not even know that cold storage them. They even have association. So there's the organization for technology advancement of cold chain in West Africa. That is the OTACCWA. Can you see even cold storage them even themselves? Dengue association has the access to database that you already need.
So ChatGPT. Sorry, not ChatGPT. Google Gemini. It also gives suggestions about how you can use LinkedIn Sales Navigator by filtering for companies. You can search for companies that have a head of procurement, companies that have a project manager or a chief technical officer, or you can even use location based filters. You can search based on Lagos or Port Harcourt, Enugu. You can be searching, You can be searching based on what's it called, industry.
So you can go there and type in code storage, for instance, and get a list of well, so long as those companies have a presence on LinkedIn, you can go there and search and you'll be able to find cold storage companies that are based in port Arcot Nobby database be that. Nobby research be that. Is that not the information that you need? Then Gemini also spoke about how you can get database by web scraping. OK, I already told Fresh Prince that should go and talk to boys where they do web developer people where they design website because neither specialty be that if you go and tell them build me a scraper that would scrape information from these sectors, any company in Nigeria where they operate under these criteria, go and scrape it for me.
Give me the information. Now of course you will settle the guy now, so you raise something, you know whether it's 150K250K, whatever shall you raise the guys some do the guy go down for you? But of course you know cross check that the data is accurate. When the guy provides all the data, are these no ways of building your database? And can you not see that instead of him reaching out to me on Thursday night, not saying anything until Sunday morning,
can you say that if he had done this exercise by Thursday night, he could have used Friday to have been calling some of those companies In fact, Monday, he could have even arranged some meetings, one or two meetings. You see how I say we shouldn't just be sitting and looking at the blank screen or a blank sheet of paper? Use these AR tools, come up with some ideas, then move on. These ideas, quick, quick, quick. If you get some contacts, you get some databases, you know,
begin the call or send emails. You never know, one or two things might click. You go for one or two meetings. If you click good, you know, click, no problem, you continue. But at least you're not sitting down wondering where will I get good ideas anyway, German, I continued. And that's the reason why I love these tools. Idea upon idea upon idea. You only should now sit down and look, OK, All these ideas I like #1 I like #6 I don't like the rest.
OK, let me apply number one. Let me apply number six. Simple. So Germany also spoke about tenders and portals. So he said you should go to a site. Germany. I said go to a site like Tenders Nigeria that are companies that are bidding on large infrastructure projects will be on that site. So that's an idea. Then once again, look idea upon idea upon idea upon idea. I don't waste people's time because we've already done 40
minutes on this kind of thing. So can you see for the umpteenth time for those of you who are listening, you have a problem. You're trying to come up with some ideas, all right, about to move your business forward and the idea you need. You just want raising a couple of ideas with somebody. You don't have to wait for an influencer. You don't have to go and pay a consultant. This thing is already on your phone. Open your phone, run the search.
You'll get some ideas. The ideas will make sense. Good. Execute Tomorrow, 8:00 AM, begin to execute. Move the ones we don't make sense. Ignore. It's that pretty simple and these tools are beautiful. During my own time, if I wanted to learn something, I'd have to go on YouTube and I could send hours and hours and hours, spend hours searching on YouTube because I want to learn some technique. Now, if you're going into wedding photography now, all you have to do is go to Google Gemini and say, dear Google Gemini.
I'm an intending wedding photographer in Nigeria. I'm based in Abuja. I have seen some advanced photography techniques from this website, blah blah blah blah blah. I would like to learn some of those techniques. I don't even know what some of these techniques are called. Look at this website, try and figure out what these techniques are called. Give me give me the names of these techniques and then write a post for me about how you can achieve some of these techniques using a Sony Ericsson camera MD57, which is the camera that I
use. And after you're done doing that, give me a list of 10 YouTube videos where I can learn these techniques. That is your prompt. You now hit send. And then guess what? Guess what? In less than 45 seconds, you will just write out everything that you asked. Something that would have taken me hours. I would have been sleeping on YouTube because I'm trying to figure out this thing when I was coming into the game. I say 45 seconds, too much self,
10 seconds. You have all the information that you need. Some of you are not using these tools because you say no, it's not perfect. They think they hallucinate and So what remove the idea that it's hallucination. Go and verify the information that you see there. The one way makes sense apply. Look, some of you are sleeping. Let me be honest, some of you are sleeping. Business is hard. Business can be very hard all right.
But some of you you will are sleeping. You've not you've not even tried. The reason why you're suffering is lack of effort. Want to No try. You haven't even tried. You haven't. So I'm not vexing that freshman has reached out to me. But you know what? Let me say, say something. I've said this before, too many of you are waiting for gurus. You don't need gurus. You don't. You're the only time you need a guru or you need a consultant is when you have hang.
You're trying to do something and you have hang see if you have money yes, then you pay the guru, you pay the influencer, you pay the consultant to work with you every single step of the way from beginning to the end. But you don't get money. What you do is you be trying to be looking for some of these tools. You know you go to get idea you could move small, small, small, small, small. Then when you hang and you can now go and look for Guru or look for consultants, you go paying small money and the guy will help you to extricate yourself from the situation so that you can move forward.
So I give my phone number freely 08064662140 reach out to me. I love talking to you guys. Well, honestly, the best way to use me is not to reach out to me for ideas. The air tools are good for the ideas. The best time to call me is when you have done this search and then you have gone to the NURPC website and you have found a list of 10 companies that do oil and gas and you've reached out to the first 3. But for the first three that you've reached out to, you've not been able to secure one single meeting.
Good. Now you can call me to say this is my company, this is what I do. We're targeting oil and gas companies. I have a list of 10 companies that I'm trying to prospect with. I have called the first three. We don't make progress at all, at all at all. This remaining seven, I want make progress. Good, then you now call me 08064662140, call me, send me a text message, send me a WhatsApp. Good. We'll now have a very productive conversation.
If now free consulting you want no problem. I'll answer one question, but at least now, now very targeted and very purposeful something I'll be able to advise you to say, oh boy, waiting you do I know doing like this, doing like this. Good luck. God bless you. Or if you get money, no problem, we'll sit down and then, you know, go begin the, you know, calculate. We can do all the various permutations about how we'll do this thing and I'll work with you and we'll try and get into the remaining seven companies.
That is the best time to call me. Not when you're sitting and your screen is blank. You don't get idea. There's nobody in Nigeria in 2026 who their problem should be. I can't think of an idea. See, there's some people that, OK, you know what, they don't have money. They can't afford smartphone. It's it's, it's unfortunate, but yes, I've come across some people that honestly speaking, what they can afford is just that old school Nokia something or the old school techno something.
They don't have money for smartphone. It it happens. But I'm not talking about those people. Now for the rest of us that we have smartphones in our pocket, the rest of us that watch Netflix every single night. Come on, you can't tell me. Idea is not your problem. Idea is not these tools are here, use them. Anyway, let me stop ranting. So that's it. Thank you very much for your time and attention today. Sorry if I over provoke for this episode, but you know some of these things just get me sometimes.
But summary what I wanted to say was remember you're coming up with your brand. The main thing to do is remember you're either trying to attract people or you're trying to repel people. Then when it comes to ideas about growing your business, particularly sales problems, you're trying to look for people to run after. You're trying to come up with a database, something like that. You don't need a guru and you don't need a consultant, at least to begin with.
Ideally, it'll be nice if you got some change. If you have some money, then yes, pay with the pay the guru or pay the consultant or pay the influencer or pay the whoever. By the way, I am neither I'm neither guru nor influencer nor whatever. I'm just a simple consultant. So if you have money, pay the person, let the person work with you from beginning to end. If you don't have money, there are simple tools that you can use to come up with ideas.
These tools are free. They're already on your phone. They're already on your laptop. All right, so Claude Gemini, ChatGPT, perplexity, look on and on and on and on. There's a friend of mine who's really into all these things, Ojugo. She studied business information technology and so she's a consultant in the AI space. Just in case you want to work with AI, Nigerian AI professionals, they're here, they're in Nigeria. Reach out to me, 08064662140.
I can hook you up. Those ones training that we were doing where she started talking about 40 twos after the training, I had to tell that. Would you go relax? It's too much. If you're talking about 40 twos, nobody will remember anything. And those 40 that she spoke about, those are the ones that she she preferred. I say, how many are there? She said, I don't know. I say, what do you mean you don't know? She said I don't know that there are hundreds of them and people keep making new, new ones every single month.
I'll be surprised if there are thousands. Shaadi's tools are here. They're free, you guys and babes listening. I beg use them. So that's it. I'll catch you all some other episode. Remember, if you want to connect with me, 08064662140, if you don't get money, don't worry. No Fear, Don't fear. Don't be afraid. I'll answer one question for free. Hopefully that'll be enough value. But if we need to go deeper, then yeah, we need to set aside time for proper consultings.
Whether hourly, whether daily, whether weekly, whether quarterly. So far I've not had to do annual. In fact, it's my prayer that if any of you work with me that honestly within a couple of months we sorted out your problem and you on your way. So me personally, anybody will engage me for one year. I think it's a failure on my part. If I work with you in a couple of months, you can't really get up and standing. Then actually it's a failure on my part.
And to be honest, there's one customer that I'm working with like that we've been working with regularly. We do a quarterly thing on and off. The relationship has been about two years, and honestly, for me, I regard it as a personal failure on my own part that somebody should be calling me back multiple times. My vision actually is that you call me. You know, we last one or two times. Ma'am, you're on your way. You don't need me again.
Everything is smooth. Anyway, let me stop there. I'll catch you all some other time. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
