Hello and welcome to the podcast. Today we're going to be talking about New Year's resolutions, goal settings. Yes, you heard me correctly, New Year's resolutions. And I know that this podcast is being recorded at the tail end of February in 2026. But don't worry, I'll explain why I'm talking about something like New Year's resolution at this time of the year. So New Year's resolutions attaining goals or the personal goals or business goals.
And then we're going to talk a little bit about investments. Now, even though this is a sales podcast and you know, investments is not really my Forte. In fact, investments is not my Forte at all because my specialty is just sales. However, those of you who've been listening to the podcast for any length of time, you know that I have a radio show. So on every single Tuesday on 91.3 FM, I'm on Radio Maria and it's called the Business Booster Show.
And, and what I do on the radio show is pretty much the same thing I'm doing over here on the podcast. You know, business goodness, solving business problems. So that's the whole focus. And whenever I have an interesting day on the air, I'd like to come over here and share my experiences on the podcast. Also because I promised the radio audience that there's always going to be a replay. I'll be a rerun or a summary basically of the of what we did on the air on the podcast, just so that people can listen back and, you know, get the summary.
So today's podcast episode is going to be one of those things. And yesterday was a busy day. So I showed up to talk about New Year's resolutions and goal attainment and personal life and in business. And then because people called in, we ended up talking some sales and talking a bit about saving culture and investment and things like that. So that's what we're going to do over here today. So for those of you who are discovering this podcast for the first time, my name is Tavishima Ayede.
I'm the host. I'm a former lawyer turned business consultant. And no, I am not Ghanaian. I'm not Indian, I'm not Irish, I'm not Japanese because of the name Tavishima. I'm thief. Just for those of you who are listening for the first time. So I'm a binary boy, and if you haven't met one before, now you have. So what was that? And if you'd like to get in touch with me, you can call, send me a text message or WhatsApp message on 08064662140.
I love meeting people who listen to the podcast. If you have any questions, I'll help you answer them. If you're looking for free business advice, I have absolutely no problem with that. Reach out, but let me know in the message, in the very first message, let me know you're looking out for free business advice. That way we can schedule a session and I'll answer 1 phone call only. But if you want us to go into any of your business problems in depth, we'll have to schedule a proper consultation.
And don't worry, I have different packages ranging, you know, all the way from middle class people to you know people will not get money. So don't worry, you're covered any which way. I used to talk to students for free, as in, you know, give them hours of my time. But I'm not. I'm not doing that anymore. You know, things are getting rather busy here. So those of you who are still in school and you have halls they are trying to promote.
Yeah. I'll only answer one question this time. All right, So, yeah, back to the things that we spoke about on the radio. So like I said, now I came on the radio show because I wanted to talk about New Year's resolutions. And this was why, because ordinarily this episode that we did yesterday on the radio show was supposed to have been on the was supposed to have aired on the second week of February 2026. But then that particular show got overtaken because someone called in and then we had some hot, hot issues that we had to tackle live on the air then.
So yesterday, now when I go on the air, I told them I look, when I came last week and I was talking New Year's resolution, somebody must have been thinking like I've missed the plot, you know, like I don't know what I'm saying. But the reason why I wanted us to look at New Year's resolution then was this was because I found some interesting research that said that 80% and I repeat, 80% of people who make New Year's resolutions, whether personal resolutions, health resolutions, romantic resolution, business resolution,
religious resolution, any kind resolution, 80% of people, they fail, they retire, they resign, they retire by the second week in February. So that's the reason why discussing this thing now, New Year's resolution is a very topical matter right now because 80% of you are giving up right now. You're saying I don't tire like I'm done. I give up. Like is it by force to be to be snatched? Let me do body positivity. I love my body.
No more 6 pack or when it comes to business goes like this business goes self this business. No, there's refusing to there's a reason to jail. I beg anything I see in this economy. Let me just take it. You know like people are resigned. So the reason why I was coming on the air was just to say that yes, January 1st, week, 23% of people quit by week, 446% of people quit by week, 880% of you are thrown in the tower. But people who say this thing,
they always leave out one very important statistic and that is that by the end of the year, by December of 20268 to 9% of people actually would have achieved the New Year's resolution. Hope you guys feel me. Yes, it looks bleak that by February 80% of people don't check out. But let's not lose hand of the fact that there are some people who at the end of the year, they're small because it's only 8 to 9%. But there are people who achieve what they set out to.
And if we're going to be successful in our business journey, we cannot be putting our eye on the people that are fell by the roadside. We can't. We should be putting our eye. We should focus on the goal, so we should stay oriented on the go and that's what I wanted us to look at on the radio show. So why do people fail in their goals and in their resolutions and what can we do to get back on track? So that's what I wanted to do on a particular radio show.
Then I was, as I was getting ready now to go to my administration, that's how somebody called and her name was Confidence and she called from Mabushi in Abuja and her mom is in the fashion business and her mom is real good, nice customer care, you know, stuff like that. And the woman is trying to get more sales basically, or rather trying to get, yeah, trying to get more customers. So of course I asked Confidence, that's the lady's daughter.
Like how far? Like how does mom see you normally get business? The girl didn't get where I was coming from, so I just asked some pointed examples. OK, like how far is it from like church? No one said, Oh yes, that mom, she talks to people in church. So how what about neighbors? Yes, mom, she talks to neighbors. And So what about like market things like that? She said yeah, that mom, she talks to people, that's how mom she gets business.
So I said OK, cool, no problem. So so we'll finish our credit. I told her I just got the call and then I'll try and answer the question and then, you know, if I miss anything, she should just, you know, send message or maybe call again. So I use that opportunity to point out something for when I put it. I use the opportunity to stress something that lots of people don't quite get. They don't get it in the sales community, this is gospel, but somehow other people who are not sales focused, like they don't get it.
Most people, what they do is you do something and it works. It brings in some business. Then you now start thinking about different things to do. Let me slow down and repeat that again. The average person will do something. It will bring in business. Then they will start looking for different things to do to bring in customers. That's ordinary people do, but from a sales perspective, this is what you do. If you do something and it brings in customers, you will double down on the thing that you did and continue to do that thing until it breaks.
Before you will start looking around to say what is new, what is better, what is better, what is whatever. So traditionally in sales, you know, we don't, we don't mess with what is what is working. If it is working, we continue to do it. That's the reason why I like in the West. You know, those of you who are in tech sales for instance, you know if you put $50.00 in an advertising campaign and at the end of the day all the business you get back is like 500.
You know all those tech boys in America, their mindset is I dropped $50, what I got back was 600. The next thing they will do is, OK, let me see, if I drop 100, will I get 1002? That's the mathematics that they do. If I drop 50 and this is what I get, how many more 50s can I drop so that I will collect money? On the other hand, that should be what that's that's what we should be doing over here. Because in consultation that I've had with people, whether paid clients or non paying clients, usually people have done something in the past that they worked, that it worked.
And I'm like, OK, cool. Like why didn't you do it again? And to be honest, nobody has given me a good reason so far. Nobody, nobody has said I continued and I pushed it for eight months and I maxed it out. And then this is where I encountered some difficulty. But this is actually where we need to, this is the very first thing we need to pay attention to. So my advice to her was if Mumsy is that kind babe, she talks to people in church, she talks to the neighbors and then you know,
like market runs and stuff like that, then Mumsy gas double down and what you should do the kids is you should along, you should double down with her as well, because I said the body on the air. And when I say things like this, nobody has contradicted me. I'm sure that this woman, let's say they live in a what do you guys see? Covert? Let's say they live like around that covert where there's three blocks, Block A, Block B, block C, they live in block B.
Most likely what Mumsy did is she probably talked to some people in block A, one or two families that she knows. She spoke to some people in block C, one or two family that she knows. And then in her own block, you know, block B, maybe she talked to one or two people that she knows. But The thing is she hasn't spoken to everybody in block A, everybody in block B, everybody in block C. So before we start looking for new and this and this and better, if you spoke to one or two people and then money came,
then what you should look is what you should the next thing should now be OK. I spoke to some people in this estate and got some business. In your head, you should not be calculating how many houses are in this estate. And is it possible for me to be going door to door or dropping a flyer to flyer or on the WhatsApp group? Can I be getting their phone number? I'll be calling them one-on-one. I'll be dropping WhatsApp message for them one-on-one.
You know, can I talk to the estate publicity chairman or chief of protocol or something? Maybe I can address that, address them at estate meeting. Excuse me something. But The thing is you don't start looking for any newer, better, fresher, more exciting whatever way of doing business if you have not maxed out the old way and if you have not killed it when everybody is frustrated on hearing about your business in the estate, OK, good you now you've overdone it, let's start looking for something else.
But until then, if you're looking for new and better and brighter, like you're creating unnecessary work for yourself, unnecessary work because so long as you're in that newer, better, brighter mindset, what will happen is you try one or two things. They work before you Max it out. You move on. And then before you know, it will now feel as if, oh, I've tried plenty things, but meanwhile, you haven't really tried anything in depth.
You haven't in your mind. It feels as if because throughout the whole year you tried 20 or 30 different things but you didn't take one and then Max it out. So for confidence and for other people who are in confidence situation, you want to support Mumsy in business, you have to tell Mumsy that is not a matter of new and better and fresh and exciting. It's a matter of what is the one that worked, then double down. That is why for those of you who have worked with me, whether in the paid capacity or not, you guys can testify.
That's the very first thing that we'll do. Like, OK, cool. What'd you do in the past? OK, this one worked. Why did you stop? Well, let's revive it. And how can we do this thing better when we squeeze the life and the blood out of this opportunity? OK, Now we can start looking for new, better and brighter. Another reason why I was supposed to do it this way is funny enough, wherever you start and you make some small progress, if you double down and you try to maximize it, you are going to get some quantitative learnings.
I'm sorry, not quantitative, qualitative learning from it. Quantitative means quantitative data means things that you can express in numbers and percentages and graphs and things like that. But then when we say qualitative, it means you will get insights. You'll get some how I put it, you'll get some know how. How will I explain this thing now? OK, like let's say now this woman, now Mama Confidence, if Mama Confidence does this neighborhood thing and she keeps pushing it, by the time Mama Confidence has done this thing for like 6 months, this whole thing of neighborhood outreach,
she will have a very keen knowledge of these are the kinds of people that live in these neighborhoods. These are the kinds of tastes that they have. These are the kinds of preferences that they have. These are the kinds of, you know, this is qualitative data. These are the things that can inform future marketing campaigns, future, you know, whatever it is that you want to do. So if she does all these kind moves and then she now discovers that, oh, OK, she's living in a Muslim community and she knows the concerns of Muslim women,
for instance, or whatever, I don't know. You know, it's from there that she'll be able to know whether she can start distributing Flyers for Ramadan discount or something. Sorry, forgive me, I'm just making stuff up. But what I'm just saying is that if I'm trying to Max stuff out and from going all in, you'll get some good key insights that you can use for strategy in the future. So when it comes to drumming up sales, stop this thing of, you know, I tried this, I tried this, I tried this at no, don't be trying trying trying.
No say I give out a few flowers in January. I ran a few advertisements on Instagram in in in in March, you know, and I tried some podcast appearances in July. No, if you started with flyer, go online in flyer first. Let us exhaust the whole batch of 1000 Flyers that you had unless he were came of it. We'll also have to review. OK, the flowers that you printed. It's not just enough that you you you distributed 1000 Flyers.
The designs of the flowers were there. OK, now the distribution, were you giving it to people where you did you have the right audience in mind? Because if you give these Flyers, if you're reaching out to people who are not the ICP, not the ideal customer profile, not the kind of people who can pay you good money, then you're wasting your time. So if I'm a car dealer and I sell Teslas, OK, Well, OK, that's not a good example because people who do Tesla will not buy.
OK, let me stick with this Muslim example. If I'm a pig farmer, OK, very good. Yes, because two or three days ago, that was the episode I put up about the lady Ayomide, who's going to be a pig farmer. So if you're a pig farmer, it doesn't matter how many Flyers you hand out. If you live in an estate that is, you know, mostly a Muslim estate, nobody's going to buy a pork. Nobody. Because you're living in a community where people think,
you know, this animal is unclean. You'll make money. There's no Haram. So it's not just enough of how you design this thing. Where did you share this flyer? If you're going to look for like in Abuja in these parts, you have areas where it's on one, like on One TV and Guan Jabba and all these areas. So if you go to On One TV and on Guan Jabba where people like pork and then you share your flyer, you will make good money because those are people who when they hear pig, they say pork meats, good meats, you begin to have good price.
So how did I get here Anyway? I'm sure you guys get the point. So it's not always about new, better, brighter, sexier ways of, you know, whatever. The one that we started and the one that we did, the one that worked OK, good. Have we maxed it out? Maxed that out first before we start looking for other stuff. So that was on Mama confidence. Then if I called, I was calling you from Airport Rd. Then he was not happy about the returns he was getting on his investments.
That's how we now the radio show now entered investment angle. So because I know our people, I decided to probe, ask one or two questions. So I say, OK, no problem. You say this investment, no, the yield results. So this investment, exactly what kind of investment was it? Then unfortunately, he started answering in a way that confirmed my suspicion. If I say, well, that was an investment put together something called connected economy, something that's make your money work for you, blah,
blah, blah. And he has noticed that the lady who put together the investment package seems to be doing well, but he's not satisfied with the returns. And then my heart sank. My heart really, really sank because unfortunately this rubbish is like it never goes away. It never ever goes away. These leeches are always around praying on people who don't know any better anyway. So I had to advise Mr. Fine and other people who are listening that, you know, when somebody comes to you and they say they are putting, you know, they have an investment package and stuff like that.
OK, well, first of all, I had to tell him. By the way, this is also a reason why you shouldn't listen to take your investing advice from people over on the air because you know those of us who are on the mic who are not specialists in everything. So I admit I'm not a specialist in investing. So I had to give him just a, how I put it, very rough advice and rather simplified. Some of you who are more sophisticated will say my definitions are not correct.
But of course, when I give definitions, I'm just trying to get people who understand the main concept. All right, so I told Mr. Iffy that look, first of all, if anybody come and meet you and the person say that person get what kind of investment that you should drop money in. I told him that look, as far as we're concerned in Nigeria, any time you hear investment, if it is not a publicly traded company, nothing is not investment.
Now this is where those of you who have legal training and stuff like that will say, Mister man, you're not correct. You're not correct. Now, yes, it can be an investment. It doesn't have to be a publicly traded company, and I agree with you. Because don't forget, I also have a law degree. What The thing is, some of these scammers are taking big advantage of our uncles and our aunties and our mommies and our daddies and our grandparents.
So forgive me if I forge definitions a bit when I'm just trying to get uncle to understand what I'm saying. So I thought we find that look, if it is not publicly traded company like the person says, oh, we're putting the money in downward table, we're putting the money in Shell or putting the money in NNPC or putting the money in Union Bank or putting the money in blah, blah, blah, that thing is not investment. So that's why I told him, First off, the investments most likely will involve publicly traded companies.
Yes, those of you who are lawyers and accountants, I understand that technically speaking I am not correct, but I'm just trying to stop our uncles and aunties from falling into the hands of these people. Then I also told bossifying that anybody who says investment, but then they're calling you for secret meeting, don't. That's not investment. Investment is always in the open. So this whole thing of oh, we're having a meeting here, here,
here, here. You know, they're not giving you details. They just say come for a business meeting. What's this business meeting about? Ah, no problem. We're just going to discuss how to make money move for you. Something, something, something. Then I'll give you details. It's a hush, hush, quiet meeting for those of us who are insiders, anything like that secret meeting with insiders, something like just just leave. Don't even go, don't try,
please, just in case there any of you who are listening and somebody is talking to you right now and they're telling you that, you know, connected something, you know, upwardly mobile something, something golden economy, something black norm this that that that that come for a meeting, this person's house something, something one guru is going to come and talk to us something. Please don't go for that meeting. Do not go for that meeting,
please. These people are well trained in the out of persuasion. They've been doing this thing for a very long time and they know all the buttons to push to make sure that once you go for that meeting, you will part with something. Then also don't we find that it's not just the name of the thing because you know, when you're putting together an investment package, you have to name it something, you know, So like in their own case,
Connected Economy in Abuja, you see all these real estate investment things that people are advertising, you know, Paradise City, river, state falls, heavenly, you know, you have to call it something now, now marketing. So I have eyes on Wi-Fi and other people listening. And if anybody who's listening to this podcast, now that it's not just about the name, you have to understand the asset. Sorry, forgive me. There's noise in the background because midterms.
So my son is at home and he's he's watching Gumball on TV. So that's all the noise is about. Sorry about that. Where was I? So I said it's not just about the name that you guys understand the asset. And this is how I explained asset to him. And yes, those of you who are lawyers and accountants, you say I didn't quite advise him correctly. I agree. I just want to make sure that our uncles and our aunties are not taken advantage of.
So I'm forging liberties with definitions. So I just told him that look, asset just means anything that you take money and you sink it into. So do I explain this? Is this, if somebody comes and says we have this investment opportunity, we have this trading opportunity, if all of you collect this money and we'll take this money and buy a piece of land, when we sell the land, we are portioning it 1010 ways, everybody take your own share,
then that piece of land is an asset. But you have to understand where is the money going inside. If they say we are pulling together all this money, we'll use it to buy a block of flats as we are renting it. Everybody be collecting their own share. OK, no problem. You know that the money is going into a flat. If they say we're taking all this money and there is this new technology so that we can be doing pineapple farms and pineapple will grow, well,
pineapple will be sweet and blah, blah, blah. We've got this piece of land in Nassau or in Ibadan, whatever, whatever, whatever, fine, no problem. You know that the money is going into pineapple Farm or going into fish farm. If they say they're gathering the money, blah, blah, blah, they want to buy shares on behalf of the group and they're going to buy shares in Dangote Refinery. No problem. The money is going into Dangote Refinery.
Now the point I wanted to make for Mr. Efan was this. First of all, you have to know the asset. Then you also have to understand how the asset produces money. If you don't understand how the asset produces money, don't invest. So if they say they're going to gather this money and they're going to put this money into Dougherty Refinery and you don't quite know like how refineries make money or like in a basic sense, you don't know what refineries sell, what refineries do, then don't put your hand inside, not because it's bad,
but when you don't understand the asset or how the asset works on a basic level. Like for me, for instance, I understand that refineries take crude oil from other people, then they process it and then they create different products like, you know, kerosene, diseases, and then they sell it back to the rest of us. So I understand that, at least I understand that much. If you don't have that level of understanding or whatever the investment opportunity is, then you're basically just placing faith in somebody else.
And unfortunately, this is Niger. You cannot be placing faith in somebody else when it is your own money. Well, I mean, not like 100% blind faith, if you understand what I'm saying. So my advice was understand the asset, understand how the asset works, understand how money goes in and money comes out. OK. If you have a fair understanding, then go ahead and drop money. And the example that I gave was Warren Buffett, because I think he's the most popular example of this.
So Warren Buffett has invested in all kinds of things, you know, weapons company, insurance company, what else? Coca-Cola, You know, when it comes to tech, zero. He didn't put money in tech. He said, Grandpa, why are you not investing in tech? His answer is very simple, because I don't understand tech. I don't know how it works. I don't know what makes the market go up. I don't know what makes valuation goes down. So therefore I don't put money there.
Now, it's not a matter of laughing at Uncle Warren Buffett with Grandpa Grandpa, some matter of laughing at him, but it's very simple. If you don't know the significant factors that drive a market up or down or influence the value of an asset, then why are you putting money there? Because if it's a good deal, you won't know. If it's a bad deal, you won't know. If something is happening and it's a good sign, will you know?
If it's a bad sign, will you know? So that's it. So that's just what I told to. Then some other person called. That's Gideon. I wanted to know about, you know, when people come together and do Isusu and things like that. And at that point I said, OK, you know what? Now that we're beginning to enter investment territory, I'm going to call somebody on the show to talk about that. And hopefully I'll be able to get somebody on the air.
And when I do, I'll also come here and, you know, give you guys the the lowdown. That's for those of you who are also considering investments. But I had to tell Uncle Gideon that, look, when people come together and put money down, Oh no, be investment, no calling investment. That is actually collective savings. Like we're coming together, we're helping ourselves save. So fifty of us come together, each person will drop like 2.5 M
because there are fifty of us. What that means is if you drop your 2.5 M now, it will be, that's like 2 years before it will be your own turn to collect. Then when is your own turn to collect, it will now be 2.5 * 50 M that you'll be receiving. That one is no investment. That one is just saving scheme. All of us are saving. You drop your money, you drop your money, you'll be dropping your money. You'll be dropping your money.
When the time reached and is your turn, all the money comes to you. It is just a saving scheme. So that's why I told him and of course I told him these kinds of saving schemes, you know, it depends how is he set up, how is he managed? Do you know these other people? What's the accountability? Because, and I can say this from experience, not my own experience or from my cousin's experience, if you carry your small 500K, all of you, 20 of you were able to raise 4405500K
and you give to this person, you have the first two meetings. By the third meeting this guy is nowhere to be found. Oh boy you will cry. And then imagine what it is for 20 or 30 people to come together, each person 3300K4400K55400K, only for that one person to miss with all of your money. Anyway, let me move on. Let me stop with the with the bad news, Moshe. That's how that particular episode got over overtaken by all the investment talk and then stuff like that.
But yeah, anyway, let me let me just leave because honestly, it can be this is the hard part of being on the radio, to be frank. You know, when people call in like this and you can tell that scammers are really taking advantage of people. So this is the only part of being on radio I don't like. You know, we get to discuss some exciting problems, exciting business issues sometimes. But then, you know, sometimes you just you all kind of stories stuff that is going on anyway.
So US resolutions. So 80% of people are going to quit by the second week in February, but don't give up because at the end of the year, 89% of people succeed. And so we worked through some of the reasons why this happens. Now, the reason why this happens, first of all, is that some of us just have vague goals. So I gave the example of how for me personally, I promised my wife in December that look, by the time she sees me in March,
it'll be 6 pack. Like my body will be on points, you know, like a Greek God, you know, athletic, you understand. So that's my promise. Now, the problem is when you make that kind of goal, I want 6 pack. It's vague. Don't say 06 pack so I can count the pack 123456. No, the goal is still vague. Better health goals are more like between now and March next year. I'm going to walk 30 minutes every day on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Down is not vague. It's very specific. You can check it. You can actually wake up and say, oh, today is Thursday OK. No, not today, today is Friday. OK, where's my slippers? Let me go and walk 30 minutes. Those kinds of health goals much better. Then also give the example of somebody that we've had one consulting session with. Hopefully we'll have more consulting sessions with him. OK, Let me not say what kind of business he's involved in, but he wants to make 100 million naira in six months.
And then the question he asked me was, is this realistic? And I said, yeah, sure, it's realistic. Now the reason why is because for he for him, he sells a high value service. If you want to calculate it by one, that's like 350K. But then he collects 10 at a stretch, excuse me, 10 at a stretch. So that's 3.5. So basically anybody who walks into the office and leaves and they're able to shake hands, that's 3.5. So of course, if people are entering into your office 3.53.53.5 yeah, it's possible that in six months you can get 100 M.
But then if what you do is you sell T-shirts, you're selling the T-shirts 15K, then by the time you remove all the costs, you know, Internet light agency employee, you're only collecting 6500 per shirt. So excuse me. Yeah, I'm using, I'm using that example because that's also someone that I spoke to. I think that was last week. So if that's your own business model and you're just making 65 per one, then you know that you're going to have to sell a lot of T-shirts to get to 100 M.
So what you can see now that in this case we're talking business goals, but you can see now we, we don't begin the specify while breaking down. It's not on a high level now. So you can see that when you have goals and you don't specify delineate, breakdown, small, small, you can see that things now start looking workable. So like in this guy's case, now we just had to do some very simple basic sales math. So based on the value of 1
customer that walks in and we smile and we shake hand and then ping him 3.5, we know how to try and deduce, OK, how many customers does he need to have to get that 100 M? So we ran the calculation and then we rounded up the figure 29 customer. This is how it works. So now instead of waking up every day, I'm thinking 100-M100M100M because 100 M is big, you can become discouraged. By February. If you wake up and you say 29
customer, 29 customer, 29 customer, can you see that it's taking shape? It doesn't look that big anymore. 29 customer, it sounds doable, Abby. 100 M, it sounds big on the hand, Abby, you can get discouraged, but if it's 29 customer, 29 customer, it's doable. Then we now did this math OK, 29 customer. It's not as if if you talk to 29 people straight, you will close the deal. So I say let's assume conversion rate of 10%.
So if 10%, to get 29 customers, you need to talk to how many people round everything up. That's like 300 people basically. So OK, no problem. So 300 people over the six month period, you know, if you just say, ah, 300 people, 300 people, 300 people. He looks big. I mean, but with this on small math, the guys say he's willing to work any time of the day, Monday to Saturday. I say, Are you sure Madame is OK? Madame is OK now.
Now these largest were ensuring that she knows where it comes from. I said OK, good. So in that case we did the math. I said this just means sorry I'm I'm saying all these things from memory so I can't remember, but I think he came down to like two people per day. So every single time this guy wakes up now he just needs to be thinking 2 customer today, 2 customer today, today. That's what I need. 2 phone call, 2 meeting, 2 inspection,
two home visit, 2, whatever. You can see that it's manageable to wake up every day and say, well, 22 customer, 2 customer, 2 customer. So if you leave your goals vague and big 100 million, it's easy to wake up one day and say I don't tire. But if you wake up and you say 22 customer, 22 customer, you see you can't keep moving. You can't keep moving because how hard is it to make 2 calls today, tomorrow, 2 calls next tomorrow.
Maybe you go and do one office visit and then maybe because of that you spent too much time, you're not able to make another call. It's OK. The next day you get back on it to customer. You can see, yes Sir, you can't keep up. So if your goals are vague, you go hard. You, the more specific the better. Especially for those of us who are involved in sales, we know that we have to be particular anyway because there's no way that you can.
So excuse me, there's no way that you can wake up in a general sense and say I define market. You need to know like, OK, who am I chasing after? Which part of town, how many people you know? The more you flesh out your plan like this, you know, it helps. So that's one thing that we discussed. Don't keep these goals vague. So those of us who want to make 150 M this year, 200 M this year, 500 M this year, you don't wake up and say 500M500M500M 500
M sounds big. After a while you'd be tired. Break it down, break it down, break it down. So for like this my guy, now we're able to break it down to 2 customer every day no problem. You know, wake up on a Wednesday and you know that my goal today is I suppose make 2 calls. I suppose make 2 visits or I'll try to make one call. These are the guy I've been talking to. Let me see if I can bring him to the to the office. That's all.
Now if we want to get even more specific, we can say 2 calls, 2 customer, 2 visits, 2 whatever, all before 11:30 AM in the morning because we want to keep ourselves accountable. So the more specific we're getting, the better. And that's the beauty of learning sales because sales has to force you to get specific on this thing. Then we also spoke about how another reason why people fumble is because they have all or nothing mentality.
So the moment you make one mistake, you give up, you know, so like me, I promised my wife 6 pack. But then, you know, by January now I found myself eating some nice it would do and like 10 wraps of fufu with some lovely pork meat. And I just told myself that look guy, this 6 pack thing, I mean, I'm not a teenager anymore. So like what's the point, you know? So it's easy to give up. So it's no matter of all or nothing.
If you fall by the wayside, you just stand up and say, ah, the devil calls up and then you continue. So like even this thing. 22 customer 22 customer. If you wake up one day and say, hey, bless him, Maria, don't cash me and you go to the hospital and the doctor say you should be on bed rest. Then you're on bed rest Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. If you wake up, you just on Saturday, tell yourself, well, the body is willing, but the flesh is weak.
What will I do? And then from there you continue. 22 customer 22 phone call 2 two visit. That's simple. You don't wake up and say one week I didn't do anything, bloody hell. And then from there you give up. No, you wake up and I say, hey is the devil, where's my village people? And then you get back on track, you continue. That is what makes it possible for people to get to the end of 2026. And then you'll be part of the 8% who'll be who'll be sinking.
We shallow a bit. No, we have overcome. We have overcome. Then there's some tips around giving yourself rewards every time you take action and score goals and things like that. You know, just a bunch of other stuff. But the main thing that I wanted to let people know basically was this whole thing of your goal being vague and just up in the air. Now by the time we take time, especially from a sales perspective and break everything down, small, small, small,
small, it makes it easier to achieve the goal because you now know what it is you're going to do, you know, every single day. So for those of you who promised your wife or promised your husband that by this time next year I go snatch and everything, that's a big goal. All you need to do is to try and figure out how to break this thing down. So if it's that every single day I'll be doing 6 crunches or I'll be walking 20 minutes or I'll stop eating fufu, I'll only be eating salad.
You know, if you just make it specific, you know, 20 salads a week, walking 30 minutes, 3 days, you know, whatever. The more specific you can make these things, the better. Now, luckily on the radio show, I had started off the 6th and the 12th of January by interviewing Ambassador Tina Kenichuku and it was on goal setting on the radio. So she had already spoken about these things, about how goals should be, you know, specific,
measurable, attainable, time bound, relevant, you know, SMART, the usual stuff. So I was able to refer back to some of those things. Anyway, that's how I was able to wrap up the yesterday's episode. So you can see was was an interesting time that I had on the radio. And as usual, so I'm preparing the summary so that people would listen, you know, just in case my confidence and the rest of them, they desire to go on YouTube, they'll find all this.
And then also for those of you who don't listen to the radio show, at least you hear the adventures that I was up to in case they stopped that we can learn. But regarding all these people who keep taking advantage of our uncles and our aunties, they will always be there. So those of us, we don't open high, you know, we've gone to school, we know one or two things. I beg, I beg, I beg. We should be talking to our uncles and our aunties 'cause it's really painful when, you know, our family members raise on small coins and then this idiot to just come and, you know, make away with it.
So please let's be educating our people. And for those of you who are not aware of these things, I'm telling you some of the code words to watch out for. If your mom comes and your mom says that somebody has spoken to her about special investment opportunity, please, your ear should go up and she asked mommy, you say, hey, investment opportunity, go and grill your mother immediately. Investment. What kind of investment?
What investment class? What asset? What is the subscription process? Ask your mom. This is one of the cold words, investment opportunity. When you hear investment opportunity, well at least in 2026 in Niger, somebody on the street or in church approach and they say investment opportunity or more red flag straight. When it's not as if the person is a stockbroker or a wealth advisor, then making money work for you. Red flag, anybody with a tail,
mumsy or Popsy or your uncle, your auntie, now you know, money work for you, money while you sleep red flag If you're hanging around in family meetings and one of your aunties is telling another person that somebody told her money while you sleep, money walk for you, red flag, get involved. So auntie overhead, Oh, I'm interested. Let me hear that's asking her questions. Please let us rescue our family members from all these charlatans that are running the streets.
And anyway, they're lucky I'm not good. If I was good, some people go go Hellfire straight. All right, So that's it. Yeah, that's it.
