Today on the podcast, we're going to be looking at a few ideas around marketing. And the reason why is because I received a text message while I was on the radio show. I think that was about two weeks ago, where someone wanted to know how you can easily market a fish farm. And the person wanted to know my opinions about that kind of business. So again, the fellow sent me a message while I was on the air. How do you easily market a fish farm?
And then the second question, what do you think about this kind of business? So I already tackled that question over the air, but I figured that there's some important issues that have been thrown up by these, by the question. So I'm coming over here on the podcast so we can look at some of those today. Now, if this is the first time of listening to the podcast and you love these sorts of issues, you know, sales, marketing,
looking for clients, you know, all those sorts of things, then subscribe to the podcast because this is what we do almost every single day over here on the podcast. So subscribe on Spotify, on iTunes, on YouTube or whatever player that you're currently listening to right now, any player that you like, subscribe so that you don't lose out on all the goodness that we talk about over here on the podcast every single day.
Then my name is Tavishima Ayede. I'm the host of the podcast. And if you would love to connect with me by calling, sending a text message or a WhatsApp message, you can do so on 08064662140. And don't worry, that's my personal number. It's not the number of the radio show. So you send a message there, you're going to get directly through to me. Now, Speaking of people who have try to get through to me and who have been sending me messages,
there are a couple of people that I want to call out. And this is not an exhaustive list. Sorry, I didn't say call out. I didn't mean call out, I meant shout out. So I'd like to shout them out. And this is not an exhaustive list. So there are some people who have reached out to me in the last couple of days because at the time of this recording, this is currently the 4th of December 2025. And as is usual, Spotify likes to send people stats on their podcast listening history.
So Spotify has been letting people know that OK, these are the number of podcasts that you listen to. This is the top one, this is the top three, this is the top five. You know, those sorts of things and those of you who listen to the podcast and who get value from the podcast have been very, very gracious and have been reaching out to me to let me know that, oh, end of year Spotify wrapped, my stats are in. I'm a top 1% listener of your podcast.
I'm a top 2%. I'm a top 5% listener. You know, your podcast is in the top five, in the top three, in the top ten of podcast that I listen to. And I have been very, very, very, very grateful. And a little bit kind of overwhelmed is not the right word. But Shah, I'm very, very grateful. I won't lie, very, very grateful. So for those of you who have been taking screenshots, you know, even though my podcast is #3 I'm grateful and I'm very honored that you have a list of 10 podcasts that you listen to regularly.
And my own is number #3 I'm very grateful for those of you who sent me the screenshots. And you know, you listen to five, you listen to 10 podcasts. My own podcast is number one. I'm very, very grateful for those of you who sent the screenshots. You listen to 10 podcasts. My own is number 5. I'm very, very grateful whether my podcast is #1 on your list #2 #3 #5 #10 I'm very grateful. And I'm honored that in 2025 that there are some of you who have decided that I'm going to accompany you on your business growth journey and on your personal development journey.
And you have been listening to the podcast steady, if not every day, you know, every week listening. Thank you very much. The growth of the podcast is down to people like you who listen, who talk about it, who teach about it, who share it in your groups or things like that. So thank you very much for growing the show. So with that, I would like to give a shout out to Omar, Omar Bolahan. Omar Bolahan Yusuf. Sorry, I still can't pronounce this your name because you know,
back when I was in in school, we had Bolahan, but I didn't know that the full name is Omar Bolahan. So Omar Bolahan Yusuf, shout out to you. Shout out to Fevor Afuyeh. Shout out to Chime, Chi, Boise, Fevor. Also shout out to Benga or Laurel Fermi. Also shout out to vibe King David. He's a crypto and Web 3 enthusiast. I was very, very happy to see that I'm still on your list because I know that I take shots at you guys a lot.
You know, you web 3 crypto people. I take shots at you guys a lot. You know, it's not because I'm, I believe you will have 419 or anything, you know, just brotherly love. You know, I want you guys to improve and also because, you know, for nascent technologies like this in Niger, it'll take a while before it catches on. And I think, you know, those of you who are players in this space, you ought to carry yourselves better and do a better job of evangelizing these new technologies because these technologies are the wave of the future.
So that's one of the reasons why when I see any of you crypto people, web three people, you know, people are not doing things right or you know, you do something and it's likely to cause confusion or misconceptions. That's the reason why I call you guys out. So vibe King David, thank you very much for still keeping me on your list. And then also shout out to Emmanuel or Jeb Muller. So there are other people. And if I didn't call your name here, no Vex because to be honest, when you guys started sending in the message, the first thing that caught my mind was I was just tripped and overwhelmed.
So it was a joy as I was responding to all of you. You didn't click now. Oh, you know what, I should be writing down their names so that at the next podcast episode, I will also give you guys a shout out as well. So, so far I've responded to everybody, but I love you guys and you girls. Thank you very much for supporting the podcast. Now let's get straight back to how to easily market a fish farm and what I think about this kind of business.
So now usually when people ask me this kind of question, one of the thing that is at the back of their mind, because sometimes there's a difference between the question that somebody is asking and then the thing that is actually choking them. The thing that actually want to know. When people want to know, what do you think about this kind of business stylishly? The question that they ask him is, is this a good business or is this a bad business?
This is a question that I get a lot. Is this business good? Is this business bad crypto? Is this good or bad? Fish farming Is this good or bad Charcoal export is this thing good or bad? Mining for gold is this thing good or bad? These are concrete questions that I've been I have people have asked me podcasting is this thing good or bad? I would beg you people listening to the podcast to stop thinking in such binary terms.
Good or bad business. Now, there's a sense in which some businesses are bad because they are unethical. So human trafficking, definitely bad business. Hard drugs, narcotics, definitely bad business. Except for those of you who are in the USA, where is on places, IBO, marijuana, Mary J, you know, all those things, they've legalized it now. So if you're in those places, you know, enjoy, you know, spliff up, light up, you know,
is now legal. Boy, in Niger, IBO is still bad business. So in an ethical sense, yes, you can say some businesses are bad. But outside of that, whether a business is a good or a bad business will depend. It will depend. It will depend on how much knowledge you have in that space. That is what will make the business good or bad. That is what will make the business risky or not risky or not risky. Because look at this thing now,
fish farming, if you take a novice like me, Mr. Mid, we are not the chop fish, absolute novice. You come and put me in in charge of a fish farm. See, I don't have to be a prophet to tell you that if you put me in charge of your fish farm today, next week all your fishes would die. They'll be dead. Not because of malice or beef. It's just that I have no knowledge when it comes to fish. Not in zero. You put me in charge of that business, all the fish would die.
They will surely die. Your business will crash. Because I have no knowledge when it comes to fisheries, animal husbandry, I have 0 knowledge, 0. I have no knowledge. I have no specialization. I have no specialized skills when it comes to these sorts of things. Then I don't have access to Technical Support services to make this thing work. Feed What do I know about fish feeding? Where will I find fish feeding? If the fish are not eating well,
how would I know? Veterinary services Do you even have veterinary services in Nigeria? Obviously we do, but ordinary people like me, do I know where to find them? Then water health. What is the pH level of the water? Is the water alkaline? Is it base? Is it acidic? I have no idea. How do we keep the water heavy? I say heavy. Healthy. I have absolutely no idea. These are the kind of things that make a business risky or not, good or not.
It depends. What is your knowledge base? Have you gone to go and learn work? Do you have the specialized skills? Do you have access to the Technical Support services that are necessary to make this kind of thing work? These are the things that determine whether a business is good or is bad. So, so excuse me, I'm not saying don't send me questions, you know, keep sending me questions. But honestly, this kind of question, yeah, any excuse me?
All businesses are good. Also, all businesses are bad. It all depends on you. How much knowledge do you have? That is what will determine the goodness of the business or the level of the risk. So when I was answering the question live on the air, what I said was this. The example I gave was refinery. Now, I went to school, I studied law, I studied oil and gas law. But you have to know that all of that is just a theory on a theoretical level, because if I'm running a refinery, what we're going to do is we're going to be, it's mostly like a chemistry something chemistry,
project management, you know, all those sorts of things. We're taking LNG, Abby, Is it LNG liquefied? No, that's liquefied natural gas anyway, Shout. We're getting all the good stuff from the ground and then we're having to process it so that from there we can derive kerosene, derive petrol, derive all of that. The thing is, I did not learn any of that in school. I don't have that knowledge. I don't know anybody who has that knowledge.
Let's remove capital now. Let's say I have the capital on ground for refinery. The fact that I don't have the knowledge, I don't have the specialized skills and I don't have access to the Technical Support services that are necessary to make a refinery work. That would mean that refinery business is a bad business for me to enter unless I can clear all these gaps. Hope you guys are feeling me. I hope you're we're we're we're together.
Hope we're flowing. So for somebody like Dangote who does not have the knowledge, however, he can afford to pay people with the specialized skills and he knows where to get access to the Technical Support services and he can pay consultant to do what's it called, you know, all the stuff that needs to be done. In that case, it might not be such a risky enterprise for him because he has done something to mitigate the risks that are involved.
And so therefore it is a good business for him. But there are some people that you try yourself, an entire refinery business, you will lose money and you will cry the tears that you will cry. There's no answer for you but Sha, what I'm just trying to say is every business is good. Also every business is bad. It all depends on you. Do you have knowledge? Do you have the skills that are required or can you get access to the knowledge or to the skills that are required to make these things work?
So when our people come to meet me about fish farm or any, any kind of animal husbandry, my advice is always go and learn work first. Go and learn work. Don't go and buy 200 heads of chicken and then you say, let me test it. Don't test it out. Go and learn the work first from somebody who knows before you go and buy 200 heads of chicken. I have seen it happen in my own family. I have seen my relatives make this kind of mistake.
You think, oh, it's not just chicken. After all, people rear chickens everywhere, don't they? You go and buy 200 heads, I'm telling you two weeks, all those chickens will die, your money will be lost. You now say, oh, chicken is bad business. It is not that it is bad business. You were not prepared for that business. So when everybody reaches out to me, fish farm, chicken, cassava, my first advice is always go and learn work first.
When you learn the work, you're better prepared. Then the next question, how can you easily market a fish farm? I didn't go into the details because I wanted to pass across one strong message first because I get this question a lot. There is no easy way to market anything. It is not possible to easily market anything. Hope you guys can hear me. There is no easy way to market anything and it is not possible to market anything easily.
So stop looking for an easy way to market. The reason why is because no matter the form of marketing that you come across, you will need either time or money. As some people say, labour as you need time, you need labour, you need money. Labour means, and I put you would reform activity, you do one or two things. So you need either time or money. That's when I look at it and I say pick one. Some people who say it is time,
labor or money and they will say pick 2, but you can see that there is no way that you sit down and easily market something. You either invest plenty of money or you will invest plenty of time and labor. You will either spend plenty or you will do plenty of waka. Up and down, driving up and down, meeting up and down, phone call up and down. But you have to spend plenty of something. You need either money or you need waka.
You need effort, you need leg of these bends. You will invest something. But there is no easy way to market anything. So stop searching for the easy way, even if it's only online advertising that you're going to do, I don't know, 55K every day, maybe three days a week or something And you do it for one month, you know, that's your budget or you go and print Flyers or you're going to be prospecting be going from OK, in this case, fish farm.
So you'd be supplying to, we'd be supplying to yourself if it's a fish farm, OK, all these enjoyment spots in Abuja, all these gardens, all these recreational centers. So even if it means walking from recreational, recreational center to recreational center, all these gardens where they do what's it called? Pepper soup? We fish catfish pepper soup. But there is no easy way at all. So for whatever business you're involved in, before you send me that message or you send anybody else that message, just know that there is no easy way to market anything.
And I can assure you this, if anybody tells you, come and buy my coaching package for the easy stress free marketing formula that will triple X your something, something, something, I'm telling you already that nothing is is going to fail. It's not going to work. Even if it works, it's not going to work to the level of your expectation. So don't even entertain conversations with anybody who is promising you an easy marketing system.
Something, something something don't. Now there's one qualifier, though, when it comes to this whole thing of easy marketing, the only way that you can kind of market your products or your service and it won't seem like it's too much work is if you pick a form of sales or a form of marketing that you already have a personal affinity to. That means you already like these kinds of things. So that's the example I gave on the air.
So like for me, right, OK, I won't say I'm, I'm talented, but The thing is when it comes to creating audio content, I don't suck. So when I went first on radio, because my mom was, she started off with NTA and then my father started off with Radio Nigeria. Well, but he's late. He's no more. And so, you know, I come from a media household. So when I started in the beginning, of course, I wanted to know mom's opinion. And we discussed technically what I was getting right, what I
was getting wrong. And then I asked our assessment. I was like, OK, am I terrible at this? She said, oh, no, no, no, no, no, you don't suck. You're on the way. So I won't say I'm talented on being on the radio and being on podcast. But The thing is, I don't suck. I'm not terrible. I'm not crap. I seem to have an affinity for these sorts of things. Plus, I like talking to strangers. So when I'm on the radio and total strangers are calling,
asking me questions, that thing does not give me hypertension. There are some people that will just die. That random stranger you didn't prove, you didn't prove the caller before they call. People who just be calling you, blasting you question up and down. There's some people that thought of that and we give them hypertension, we give them a stroke. But for me, talking to strangers, not a problem. Phone calls, not a problem,
audio, not a problem. So in a way you can say that I am marketing by consultancy services in a way that is easy in a way. So it's not as if it's easy because I still have to put in the reps. The radio show started in 2025. Every week I've been at the radio station, I think twice we've been off the air. But even for the days when we're off the air, I was still at the radio station. Just in case they fixed the something.
Let me just quickly, you know, hop on air and not disappoint my audiences. So 2025, I've been at radio station every single week. The podcast, been doing this over five years, currently over 1300 episodes. So this is your first time listening to the podcast. When you're done, just, you know, stay here in the feed and keep looking. You'll definitely find more and more and more answers to questions and things that will interest you and that you'll find valuable because I have over 1300 of these episodes.
So in a sense, you can say it's kind of easy, but you can see that I still put in the work. I'm on the microphone now. Next week Tuesday, I will be on the microphone at the the studio for the radio show. So in a sense, yeah, you can say you can find an easy marketing way. That is, if you pick something that you already seem to have some some talent, some affinity. Yeah. In that sense, maybe you can find something easy.
So let's say you like, let's say you're a female. You like putting on makeup and you like recording videos and you're in the beauty and skin care space. Oh, OK. Yeah, in that case. And yeah, you find something that is not too bad because you really like painting your face every day and you really like being on video every day. But of course, what will be required to breakthrough the amount of noise that is on the Internet?
Honestly speaking, you'll probably have to be doing that two or three times a week. So excuse me, you can't make one video a week and say you're marketing yourself, My dear, you haven't started. There's a lot of stuff going on on the Internet. I'm dropping podcast episodes almost every other day. There is just that is happening every other day on social media. Politicians involved in scandals every single day. What else, Big Brother?
All these TV shows, you know, they're doing stuff. The Internet is flooded with activity. You cannot tell me that you want to breakthrough in your business and you say you're only producing one piece of content a week. You have not started. Your content will be drowned out by all the noise that is there. Anyway, it's been 20 minutes, so let me not stress this too much. But bottom line, summary of what I was trying to say, whether a business is good or bad, it's not about the business itself.
It depends on you. So for those of you who have been wondering charcoal business, is it good or bad? It is both good and it's both bad. It depends on you. How much knowledge do you have about the charcoal industry? Have you gone to go and learn? Have you taken any courses? Do you have any specialized skills? Do you know where you can get access to Technical Support services to make this thing work? You know, do you have a freight forwarder in Lagos?
So it depends. And for those of you who have been asking, oh, that's our state, there's some people who are doing mining in Nassau state. Is it good or is it bad? Remember, I'm talking about things in a legal and ethical construct. So there's some businesses that are illegal. Should you be putting your hand there? So for those of you who are asking about mining gold in Nassau, mining gold in Nassau, is it legal? Yet? You yourself that is asking this question, you know that all the people that are mining this thing in Nassau state, you know that they're doing this thing illegally.
You know it is illegal. Doesn't sound like a good business to you. Business that you can't do with your two eyes open. Sorry. What I'm saying is basically what I meant is business that you can do with Peace of Mind that whenever you're doing the business, you always have to shine your eyes and be looking left and right. Are they coming from me? Are they coming from me? Where are they coming from? So those of you who are talking about mining in Nassau, you answer that question yourself,
whether it's good or bad business. But at the end of the day, how much knowledge do you have? So for some of these things, go and learn first. Take a course, pay attention. YouTube videos, network, attend Chamber of Commerce, be introduced to somebody who is already in the business, offer to work for free. Intern, shadow them, let them cover your transportation costs. Learn one or two things. No knowledge gained is is wasted.
At the end of the day. If you shadow somebody for free for two weeks, at least you will know at the end of the day whether this is a business I like or this is a business I don't like. It is good that you shadow somebody for free and after two weeks you learn that I want nothing to do with this business. Now for you to actually start, you're ill prepared. You invest serious money into it. You go and drop like one M and after two weeks you now lose 1
M. Anyway, let me wrap it up. So yeah, that's it. And then for those of you looking for easy ways to market, there's no easy way at all. You don't need time or any money. So if you have money, drop that money market. If you don't have money, oh boy, roll up your sleeves. It's time to get to work. If it is content, begin to create content. If it is prospecting, Oh yeah, start visiting people, start calling people, start getting introductions.
Well, there's no easy way to market. Then again, thank you very much to those of you who have subscribed in 2025, who have been sending me messages to say Spotify Raptors here. I'm your top list now.
